I’m a tad late in uploading this post (what else is new), but things have been continually changing in my life. In fact, since the summer began—and ended so quickly—so much took place.
For starters, I was lucky to be able to travel several different places. Most importantly, I went to London for the first time, which was a complete whirlwind. I can’t wait to go back! Things changed in my mind and priorities during this trip, and I realized there was so much more out in the world for me to do and see.
By the end of the summer, I decided to leave my job in luxury retail. If you didn’t know, I had worked in sales for the last 3-4 years, at Michael Kors and most recently Holt Renfrew. Before I went back to school, I took a quick trip to NYC, where my close friend and equally creative thinker, Erica, was staying for a few weeks.
I think this decision came at the right time, as I was ready to begin my last semester of school, and had been holding back my aspirations of other career pursuits for some time. Working in an industry that is quickly changing, which doesn’t tap into the wealth of my skills and interests was clearly not the correct path for me — thus, here I am, beginning to do what I enjoy.
As a creative, I want to encapsulate all of my interests and abilities into my work; which is why this blog is a large part of my personal brand. By the end of the year, I hope to have launched my new website (that I previously mentioned my aspirations of creating) that will provide a home for my portfolio, brands I have worked with, creative offering, and what I can do for/with potential clients. Also in the mix: YouTube, design, more collaborations, and more — the options are endless; and why limit myself, right?!
For now, I leave you with a few shots I took with Erica (@sliq.rick), reflecting the beautiful colours of fall, and one of my favourite seasons of the year.
