Amidst studying for my finals, I have taken a moment to seek out some of the top handbag styles on the women’s runways this past fashion week month. And yes, it was so much fun scouting out for 20 of these amazing bags.
Some new, some refreshed, some totally odd (but that’s what makes them amazing)! If you haven’t check out my top men’s bags on the FW15 runways, check them out here! This was definitely a really fun post to compile, as handbags are [clearly] a huge passion of mine 🙂
Here are my 20 favourite handbags on the FW15 runways, on Sass & Leather!!!
I absolutely love this category of bags! Something totally fresh for each designer! It’s great how Nicolas Ghesquiere is carrying out with the classic LV trunk-style bags, but in new ways every runway season. Similarly, Phoebe Philo continues to implement the knot/tie motif in a new handbag each season!
Of course Alexander Wang has the hands for creating some amazingly coveted bags out there, and this new one by Balenciaga is super cool – that covered chain reminds me of a swing-set chain, or something. And it was about time Valentino diversified from rockstud-only bags. This clutch is clean, but bold, all at once.
Textured & Embossed
Who doesn’t love a funky & bold handbag, especially for a season filled mainly with dull colours?! The Ricky by Ralph Lauren is quickly becoming the latest “it-bag”, and this bucket version in cow print is cute!!! Lanvin and Versace both created very elegant yet stand-out evening bags, both complete with unique chain details!
Proenza seems to have created a really cool messenger/backpack (I think) hybrid, in a striking white embossed croc…or it could be real, I don’t know! I just must have it next Fall!
Never until most recently did I know that both CK and Pucci made amazing bags!!! The Pucci one is so bold with the large metal hole in the front flap, and long funky fringe! Likewise, CK crafted a clean messenger, but take a look at that oversized chain crossbody strap – I think we have a trend with #AMAZE (like amazing, but waaaaay cooler) chains on bags.
Dior cranked out a clean silhouette saddle messenger – an iconic shape for their handbag collection. The style seems almost refreshed from what seems to be a part of the ‘Diorissimo’ collection, in beautiful python, of course.
Yes, I am actually that bag-obsessed and knowledgable that I knew pretty much every single name, and realized that each of were classic styles. Don’t worry, I’m not proud of myself or anything!!! 😉 But yes, I definitely noticed this trend on the runways; and why not? I think my favourites of the reinvented styles have to be that gorgeous shearling Fendi Peekaboo, and the cute Chloé Marcie, studded with fringe (#perf for Coachella!!!). As if I couldn’t want the Peekaboo anymore, until now 😥 #HandbagsOverFood
Nouveau Fall/Winter Classics
This is a pretty open category, but I think each of these styles are unique in their own way, especially for the F/W season. Gucci seems to be following the trend set by Chanel, and then Dior, with their masculine-style flap bag; but of course in signature monogram, and featuring the tiger-head buckle! MK Collection has some pretty chic bags, and I think this is perfect for the jet-setting socialite, whom the brand is known for dressing.
Saint Laurent has become known for creating some pretty cute mini-bags, and this definitely puts an edgy spin on their assortment; and it features the signature YSL logo! Finally, Burberry, with their own spin on fringe. Chic, simple, fun, and totally British. Job well done!
I genuinely hope you enjoyed this fun post featuring some of the top handbags picks, that are actually wearable – well maybe not so much the LV one – on the blog this week! It was a blast looking through them, as you know, I am a bit of a handbag junkie myself.
What was your fav bag on the runways this season??? Until next time…
