As I type this from my cozy bed, I can’t keep myself from feeling the the warmth and joy today on Christmas, and Hanukkah that just passed, and of course the excitement about the new year ahead! This year has been a great one, with many new opportunities presented to me (of course including this blog) which has let me show the virtual community my sense of style, taste in fashion, and of course, what I covet.
Outfit of the day’s have to be my favourite section of my blog, as each time I embody a totally different look, with a different settings. This specific post is focused on one item I have coveted more than any other piece this season, and one that I was actually able to purchase: an Alexander Wang collection peacoat. No words can describe the simplicity and uniqueness of the coat, and the hot pink zippers just take it to another level!
I have not owned a peacoat before, and I felt it was time to invest in one that I could not only dress up and look professional, but with some unique details that brought out the fun, and fashion sense in it. When I initially saw this coat, the zippers obviously caught my eye, and immediately I said to myself: “I #NEED THIS”. And here we have it!
I decided to pair the coat with my newest bag-quisition, the Givenchy Pandora (which I purchased in LA, you can see here), which has to be my absolute coveted bag of the moment. The leather is amazing. It’s pre-distressed, with a crinkled, washed, and stained look, yet it has the softest feeling ever. It can easily go with any outfit…as you can see, it worked with this peacoat well. And to keep me warmer, I wore my green-toned Burberry crinkle scarf, which matched the texture of the Givenchy!
Hanging off my bag is my new Prada robot charm; his name is Edward, and I think he adds some spunk onto any bag I hang him off of 🙂 Also, I wore my new leather biker gloves by The Kooples, which I featured in my Men’s Holiday Gift Guide post last week (check it out here). I think the gloves add an edgy touch to this look, while of course keeping my hands warm! Loving both of these presents I received for Hanukkah this year!
The best part of taking pictures is finding a backdrop that either complements, or contrasts with your concept. For this look, I thought it would be awesome to walk through the woods, in “couture”. I do have my distressed combat boots on, yet I don’t think one would normally take a walk through the woods in winter in such an outfit. The disconnection between the clean cut world of fashion, and the dirty, rugged, unknown world of nature brings great depth into these snapshots.
What do you think of this look? I’m so excited to finally own this coat as I was eyeing it for months. I think it looks better on me than it does hanging in a store, to be perfectly honest 😉 And the same goes with this awesome Opening Ceremony sweatshirt I copped at a boutique in Toronto, Jonathan+Olivia, a couple weeks back (on sale too!!!) #WinterWhite
Did you guys receive all you wanted on your Hanukkah or Christmas wish list this year? Are there any items you’re lusting for, or are dying to take the plunge for that you haven’t done yet? But all I know is that I’m super stoked about adding this Alexander Wang coat to my closet; it will be a cherished piece forever!
Wishing everyone a happy holiday season, merry Chrismukkah season, and cheers to the new year! Hopefully I will have a post up before 2014 ends, but if not, here’s to the fashion to come of 2015 🙂 Thanks for being a part of Sass & Leather thus far.
