I know that this is a little late, but I figured I still had to gather my top picks from this year’s resort/cruise collections and share them on Sass & Leather! Going through some of my personal favourite designers, as well as other names that are big in the industry, I have hand selected (which was extremely hard to do) 1 look from 25 different collections. So, without further ado, here are my top 25 best looks of resort 2015!
In alphabetical order, we start off with one of my absolute favourites, Alexander Wang. His collection seemed to have an almost Spice Girls inspired undertone, with large boxy coats & pants, as well as thick leather thigh-high boots. I love it, and this print is just as awesome!
Although I’m not totally familiar with the next brand, Altuzarra, I do know that Joseph Altuzarra was crowned CFDA’s Womenswear Designer of the Year at the beginning of this month. With his main focus on clean tailoring and draping in his designs, he has implemented these great techniques into his resort collection this year. This look falls easily on the model, while the top has a nauticalesque look, and the skirt shines in its metallic fabric.

Also designed by Mr. Wang, Balenciaga’s resort collection was amongst my favourites. This look embodies clean cut lines in the translucent & mesh coat, interesting printed skirt, and rain boots. The coat is my favourite part of the look.
The first show, showcasing some of the most unique pieces was Chanel Cruise in Dubai. I find Chanel to be really thinking outside of the box lately, taking inspiration from different lifestyles & cultures whilst incorporating it with the Parisian roots of their style; it’s fascinating. This total golden look with the large genie style pants was quite interesting, but the gasoline tank bag was what really caught my eye! #LOVE!
Reinterpreting their classic Marcie satchel, introducing their own version of the coveted mule, and having cute & airy flower printed kimonos, Chloe really stood out to me! They had some Asian inspiration into their collection this year, and it’s really chic!
Similar to Celine’s SS14 collection, Christian Dior brought in some bright water colour prints into his collection. This look is very clean and classy, but the bold colourful swatches just bring it out its true beauty!
As always, Clover Canyon catches my eye with their amazing & bold prints. As loud and different as both of these pieces look, they somehow come together, in all their quirkiness.
DKNY, one of my new favourites, showcased 2 looks in their resort collection: edge and class. I chose a more graceful look; the model wears a pastel pink light suit, sporting funky metallic sneakers which add the needed touch of spunk.
Following the Asian theme, Fendi implemented a kimono look into their designs as well. The block style sandals are my favourite part of the outfit, as well as their stunning 2Jours handbag in matching colours!
I found many men’s inspired looks, especially extra wide pants, when looking through most of this year’s resort collections. Gucci definitely followed that trend, and made it look attractive while sticking to their classic style. The faded flower print stands out well in their cruise collection.

Kenzo did well in presenting bright, fun pieces, as always. With this great polka dot matching denim getup, you may get a few stares, but I think you’ll definitely look funky-fresh!
Lanvin pleases in simple, loose but modern cuts in its resort collection. With some colour, but mainly creamy tones in its looks (like this one), they embodied the travel look well.
For his second collection with Louis Vuitton, Nicolas Ghesquière brought out the fun in his resort looks. With the bright re-intepretation of LV’s classic Alma bag, and vibrant floral print in this look, Ghesquière accomplished marvel!
This model looks ready to go in Marni! A simple coat, 2 piece leotard, interesting pair of sandal-like shoes, and large shades, she’s ready for any circumstance of travel. I like.
Après we have Michael Kors, bringing his A-game with more classic looks that can be worn for any occasion. I really think Mr. Kors hit the nail on the head for this year’s cruise collection, tying in all aspects of his jet-set concept & what resort embodies. Not to mention, I’m really lusting for the male version of this look!
Oh oh oh Moschino! Jeremy Scott is my type of guy; his second Moschino collection is just as eye catching as the first, but is more playful! I would never think to pair coral & yellow, but the mesh base of the ensemble, and bright all-over-Moschino-printed edges bring a pop to the look. #SoSICK (utterly awesome, for those who don’t understand my terminology)!!!

Can I just say how obsessed I am with this top…and the rest of Opening Ceremony’s collection too. Amazing graphic prints, great construction, and modernity at its finest. Me likey 🙂
Proenza Schouler presented a simpler collection for resort, differing from their brighter looks I normally see implemented in their collections. However, I think they did a great job, and I’m loving this almost towel-like material used in this outfit!
A new kid on the block, Public School, brings a menswear-inspired look to the table for their women’s collection. With heather-knit as most of the texture, they highlight the sweat-chic in travel wear, but still embody an effortlessly cool look.

Another favourite of mine, Rag & Bone, presents a great resort collection, pairing a long coat & unique cut suede skirt. The best part of the outfit are the perforated sneakers, although the high socks are kind of weird, lol!
This stunning sheer gown by Roberto Cavalli is one of my top picks of all 25 here. A classic print, but bright for the warm season, Cavalli brings exotic fun to the table. Meow!
A classic look, but with a pleasant pale pink tone, The Row brings a bright touch to their cruise collection. Although very avant-garde, it’s quite nice for a resort look!
Valentino presents another one of my top looks out of these 25. With a few rockstuds on the handbag, they keep the look cohesive with their current collections, while the butterfly print throughout is eye catching and ultra-charming! Completing the look is the sandal version of their classic espadrilles, tinted in the same khaki green as the outfit.
Second to last, Versace adds pizzazz to this funkified look. Employing the unmistakeable Greek key & Medusa emblems everywhere, this look is classic Versace, and is very pretty in its pale yellow and lilac tones. You’ll be ready to stomp some ground in those thigh-high boots!
Last but certainly not least, 3.1 Phillip Lim presents simplicity in their resort collection. With an oversized chiffon top draped over their hip ocean-wave looking dress, it’s almost as if the model is wearing water, and it’s definitely cool!
