Tonight, the Met Gala brought out tons of A-list celebs in stylish and elegant outfits, all dressed to the nines. Opening this year’s exhibit for Charles James: Beyond the Costume, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute put on yet another brilliant soiree, hand-in-hand with Vogue, displaying the best of the best in high-end fashion. Anna Wintour, Vogue’s Editor In Chief set the tone in a Chanel Couture dress, looking classy yet quite charming!
While last year was a little risqué with the punk rock theme, exhibiting Miley Cyrus in a body-con mesh Marc Jacobs dress & spiked hair, and Kim Kardashian sporting the flower-printed-grandma-couch onesie dress, Anna Wintour made sure to have a strict code, so the gala would only host the best dressed. One simple attired Michelle Williams wore Louis Vuitton, following the theme set by Wintour.
Though I noticed some celebrities strayed from the classy dress code requested by Wintour, there were many who clothed divinely, and looked overall brilliant. Starting off with the classy dressed, the few ladies and gents here made sure to stick to the code for the invitation-only, $25,000-ticket event. First, Sarah Jessica Parker stunned the paps in her gorgeous, long Oscar de la Renta gown (printed on the back). Very Cinderella if you ask me.
Canada-native Rachel McAdams looked elegant in a pastel pink Ralph Lauren gown, and so did newcomer in the modeling world, Kendall Jenner, in her nude mermaid gown by Topshop. Selena Gomez also exhibited simplicity and class in her dark purple DVF gown, while Karolina Kurkova showed face in her floral printed Marchesa gown.
Next for the classy-chic look, Nicole Richie adorned a gorgeous mixed media Donna Karen Atelier gown, and cute lavender hair might I add, as well as Rita Ora, adding a little gladiator-inspired strappy heel into the look. Lupita Nyongo, recent Oscar winner and known to sport Prada, wore a fresh version of a classic flapper dress in bright green! #LOVE!
For the men, the “white tie and decorations” look was donned, and hints of come-hither were seen in clean-cut suits and charming smiles. Andy Cohen, TV personality, looked dashing in Ralph Lauren, and both Bradley Cooper and Tom Ford himself looked dapper in his collection.
Following, the cultivated couples were the ones who stunned us at home! Victoria and David Beckham looked great as always; wearing her collection and him wearing Ralph Lauren Black Label. The lime-lighted duo, Yeezy and Kimmy K (Kanye West and Kim Kardashian) looked fab in Lanvin, and the power couple Jay Z and Beyoncé looked spectacular in Givenchy and Stella McCartney.
Then the young cuties Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield looked whimsical in Thakoon, and older cuties Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively looked elegant in Gucci. Like her TV bestie, Leighton Meester aka Blair Waldorf (and Blake aka Serena Van Der Woodsen) blew us away in her ornate Pucci dress.
Twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen looked dark-chic in their suited gowns, while their younger sister Elizabeth looked very attractive in her bright blue Miu Miu number!
And designer-celebrity duos Prabal Gurung & Hailee Steinfeld looked well tailored in his line, and Alexander Wang & Kristen Wiig looked sharp in Balenciaga (which he is the creative director of).
Finally, the unaccompanied women took the night away solo, looking fabulous and super sexy. The gorgeous Georgia May Jagger, face of Thierry Mugler, wore a stunning low cut black gown, as well as Gisele Bundchen in Balenciaga; both looking ultra provocative. And Rosie Huntington-Whitely looked rather inviting in a sharp Balmain leopard leather dress.
Lastly, stealing the show (in my opinion), the two ladies both wearing Stella McCartney looked absolutely stunning, and made my jaw drop to the floor. Cara Delevingne looked incredible in a black & white jumpsuit, and Rihanna took my breath away in a classic, yet extremely sexy two-piece white outfit.
Overall, I think the guests were extremely well dressed this year. I didn’t see many oddly dressed attendees, and having had the urge to list over 30 as best dressed, I’m sure you’ll agree too! What do you think of this year’s Met Gala?
